40th Street Pond (William Thompson Pond), Port Huron Township
There will be fish identification, knot tying, a casting contest, Blue Water Social Club’s kayak safety instruction, and a Joe Fiedler Memorial “Free Fishing Gear Raffle.” Join us for a free hot dog lunch! Goodie bags, fishing poles, and bait are provided. Parking is the rear lot at Baker College, and registration and entrance to the park are at that end of the park. Sponsored by Port Huron Charter Township Recreation Board. On-site registration required. Parking for the event is at Baker College on Lapeer Road.

Cargill Kid’s Fishing Derby • 7:30am – 11:00am
Pine Shores Golf Course, 515 Fred Moore, St. Clair
Come for fishing games, touch tank, and the Cargill Environmental Station. Bring your own fishing pole and bait. All ages are welcome, but children must be accompanied by an adult. A lifejacket for children is recommended. On-site registration is available. Sponsored by Cargill.

Paddle the Russell Island Loop
Russell Island Canals
The 4.3 mile Russell Island Loop takes a paddler through the calm, serene waters of the canals on Russell Island, passing stately summer homes and cottages. You will likely see swans, ducks and flowering water plants. Please show up at 9:30 to the DNR boat launch in Clay Township. You will be required to sign a waiver and wear a life jacket. No participants under 18. After we complete the paddle we will meet for lunch at a local eatery.
